Whitt started on the pole after the fastest 6 cars were inverted and grabbed the lead quickly in his Red Bull, Ferguson, Moen Faucets, Brannan-Chevy powered Eagle. Whitt out ran fellow front row starter Hines into the first turn and began a sizeable lead. Three cautions slowed the race, however Whitt was able to continue a blistering pace and hold off a late race charge by Jon Stanbrough beating him to the checkered flag by several car lengths.
