WHITT TAKES SEVENTH CAREER GAS CITY WIN
Monday, April 27, 2009 – Cole Whitt is like any driver…he races to win every night.  Like any driver, Cole has a few favorite tracks he likes to run.  No stranger to Gas City I-69 Speedway, C-Squared (Cole Whitt and crew chief Chuck Gurney Jr.) got ready to head to one of their favorite tracks.  Preparation of the no. 29w began at the shop located in Lebanon, Indiana (the home based race shop of Cole Whitt Racing).  With a 30 plus car field on hand for the race, Cole knew he would have his hands full not only driving, but also making the calls with Chuck acting as crew chief on the sprint car.  For Cole and Chuck, they haven’t forgotten how to make the 29w a fast race car.

Cole was able to pick up a dominating win in the 2nd heat race.  The C-Squared crew had a few minor first race jitters, an oil leak in the heat race left the 29w smoking severely, however the crew worked together to solve all issues. The victory in the heat race moved Cole into the feature where the draw would have him start 6th.  The race itself was highly competitive as many of the local regulars were on hand to compete along with USAC National racers that had an off weekend.  Cole was able to get to the lead on the eighth lap and stay there until the finish.

Cole had this to say, “It was a good way to starting the season for the no. 29w Red Bull CW Racing Sprint Car.  We came out with a good idea of what the car needed after running here last week.  The calls that Chuck and I made seemed to work throughout the evening, and I am excited to be back in victory lane in 2009!”

Cole Whitt can now add another win to 2009 in addition to making this his 7th career win at Gas City.  Next for Cole, three races in three days means that the racing is back in full swing in the midwest!
