Whitt Caps Season With a Win
Irwindale, CA.... Cole Whitt of Alpine, Calif. put his Red Bull/Ferguson Beast/Chevy in the lead at the drop of the green flag and proceeded to lead all the way to win Thursday night’s 40-lap USAC Western Sprint Car feature at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.  The race was part of the track’s 69th Lucas Oil Turkey Night Grand Prix program and Whitt picked up his 2nd win of the season on pavement.  “I would like to thank my crew that has helped me all year, Chuck Gurney Jr., Richy Brannan and my dad.  All their hard work and support has paid off and to end the season with a win in the 29w just makes it perfect” explained Cole.

In the USAC National Midget portion of the event Cole qualified the #1 Red Bull Toyota in the 14th spot securing a starting position in the 98 lap feature.  At the drop of the green flag Cole had worked his way up to the 5th position early in the race but was forced to retire with motor issues and finished the race in 17th.  “Our midget was great tonight, we had a really good race car and Keith and the crew worked hard to get us where we needed to be.  Unfortunately something’s you can’t control.  I’d like to thank Keith Kunz and the crew for all their hard work, we have had an up and down season in the midget but everyone kept their heads up and worked hard and that’s what it takes, team work” explained Whitt.

Cole Whitt and the crew will enjoy some much needed time off before preparing for the 2010 season ahead.
