RETURN TO MIDWEST FOR WHITT YIELDS TOP THREE IN USAC MIDGET |
Monday, April 5, 2009 – Cole Whitt and his USAC National Championship racing team returned to action in Columbus, OH. The no. 1 Red Bull Toyota Beast Keith Kunz Motorsports midget spent the time off working to continue to improve this front running combination. The hard work by everyone saw the team rewarded with continued positive results.
The team rolled out onto the new for USAC-track in 2009 and found the pace immediately. Cole took his early practice pace and transferred this to an excellent third place result, as he was one of three drivers who broke the track record. Once Cole made his way through the heat races, he was able to use the third place from qualifying to excellent effect in the race. The track had very little banking and this meant that the qualifying results were even more important when it came time to race in the feature.
Cole takes this third place result and will return to the USAC National Sprint Car no. 67k for the next six weeks before a return to USAC National Midget racing on May 23.
