East Bay Raceway – Winternationals – Brandon, Florida
Back in the seat of his 410 Sprinter, Cole headed to Florida to race a new track and new surface. 42 Non Wing sprint cars would compete towards Friday’s $10,000 purse. “We got one night of practice and every time out, we got better and better, explained Cole. I’m ready and excited to get back in the 410.” Three nights of racing began Monday. Cole would draw 60 out of 60 for a starting position. Running strong Cole raced hard for the transfer position to the A main, two cars made contact and spun, with no where to go, Cole was disappointingly taken out of competition with a bent front axle.

Wednesday would prove to be better when Cole raced an exciting heat race to beat Levi Jones on the last lap. In the A feature Cole started 16th and quickly worked his way up to the 4th spot. On lap 8 a caution had come out and Cole had to check up quickly. Tagging the back of the 3rd place car he spun into the infield. After being relegated to the rear of the field, Cole was able to work back through traffic for a 9th place finish. “Our car was working so well, said Cole. I made a mistake that only hurt me, but I am real happy with the way the car handled.”

Friday night was the final night of racing action. The top 6 competitors were locked into the feature by point accumulation. Cole Finished 4th in his heat and 2nd in the B main, earning him a 22nd starting position in the final A Feature. On the wave of the green flag, several cars spun and flipped in turn one collecting Cole in the process. Under red the crew worked hard to get the car back on track, only to find a broken pan hard bar. “The car was fast and I was really looking forward to racing, but to get taken out on the first lap of a 40 lap feature is really disappointing. I would like to thank my crew for all their hard work,” stated Cole.
