Tuesday, January, 20, 2009 Cole Whitt and Rip Michels racing are proud to announce that they are teaming up to compete in the NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway on January 23, 2009. The Showdown brings the best Short track racers from across the country to compete in the highly competitive Super Late Model Division.
Cole Whitt, the 17-year-old Red Bull athlete, became the youngest National Champion in the 58-year history of the United States Auto Club. Cole will be driving a Dan Moore motorsports car, prepared by Rip Michels and his team. If the test is any indication, Cole will be competitive, and according to Rip Michels, "A legitimate threat to win."
Rip and the team tested with Cole this past Thursday. Rip, the all time leading championship and race winner at Toyota Speedway, helped Cole with his line, and Cole was a very quick learner.
"I am very excited to drive for Rip and his team," stated Cole. "I love racing at Irwindale, and it will be a great experience."
"It's exciting to have a young teammate to work with like Cole, and it's something I have wanted to do for a while. The word talent is thrown around a lot these days, but in Cole's case, he actually has talent, credentials, and a USAC National Championship to back it up," said Rip.
(Note – Cole Whitt Racing Would like to thank Rip Michels Racing with details for press release)
