Chili Bowl Midget Nationals 2007 |
The 2007 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals boasted over 289 entries this year. Cole Whitt and his Red Bull midget with Fontana power was scheduled to run Friday night for preliminary action. Cole ran 2nd in his heat race to Dave Darland, placing him in the 2nd qualifier where he finished 5th. In the B main Cole raced hard for the transfer position with Bobby East.
Searching for traction Cole drove tight on the bottom of the track collected the inside burm and went upside down finishing 12th. Point accumulation would find Cole buried deep in the field of the E main on Saturday night. Here he would attempt to work his way up to the A feature. In the E main Cole had a hard drive to finish 2nd. A great finish despite having motor and brake problems. Cole pulled his midget into the pits to get ready to transfer to the D main. The crew went to work on the car, with very little time in between races, the crew quickly made repairs to the motor and got Cole back on track. In the 15 lap D main Cole would start from the back row and finish 9th. “I would like to thank my crew and everyone that helped get our motor running again. We had a good run, passed cars, we just came up a little short, explained Whitt. All in all the Chili Bowl is still an awesome event.”
