Whitt Tunes up for USAC Season while home in California |
With the USAC National Schedule on hold until April, Cole has had an opportunity to tune up in the off season by racing in the USAC CRA series. Cole was excited when Glen Crossno at iTi Performance Racing asked him to drive the #2 sprinter at Perris. “Glen and I get along great and he always has good equipment and a great team”, Cole explained.

Cole Whitt Begins Season with Great Momentum |
The 2008 Copper on Dirt at Manzanita Speedway was the successful beginning of a season long point journey for Cole Whitt. After a rain postponement (yes you read that correctly) from Friday, Cole rallied on Saturday to qualify for the main event in both the USAC National Midget and USAC/CRA Sprint Main Events.

22nd Annual Dodge Chili Bowl Nationals 2008 |
Cole Whitt finished 13th in the grand finale A Main of the Chili Bowl Nationals. Cole gained some valuable experience racing alongside NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers like Tony Stewart and Kasey Kahne in front of a capacity crowd of 13,000. Whitt actually passed Stewart in an earlier qualifying round. “On our qualifying night the car just kept getting better and better,” Whitt said. “At first we got shuffled back a bit, but as the race went on the car was set up perfectly so I could run on top where no one else was. When we passed Tony Stewart for the final transfer spot, I couldn’t believe it!”

The 16-year old California native finished his 2nd full season of open wheel racing action throughout the Midwest. The youngster ranked sixth in points at Kokomo Speedway, third in overall Sprint Bandits TNT points and finished 19th in USAC National Sprints with a limited amount of starts due to age restrictions. With 33 top-tens in 60 Sprint Car feature starts, 10 were top 3 finishes.
